Easy Vanilla Coconut Honey Sugar Scrub Recipe

First up, we have this simple sugar scrub recipe made with less than 5 ingredients that you could probably find in your kitchen cabinet. This scrub is quick to make for exfoliating your hands and feet for a smooth silky feel. 


- 1/2 cup of coconut oil 

- 1/2 cup white sugar 

- 1/2 cup brown sugar

- 1 teaspoon of honey

- 10 drops of vanilla extract 


  1. Place 1/2 cup Coconut Oil in double boiler and melt completely
  2. Transfer melted Coconut Oil to small mixing bowl, and stir in white and brown sugar until well mixed
  3. Work with recipe and make it to the texture and consistency your prefer by adding a little sugar at a time instead of the entire cup at once
  4. Add honey and blend into the mixture
  5. Add 10 drops of Vanilla Extract {or a scent of choice} and mix again until well combined
  6. Spoon into a Jar of choice and seal with a top
  7. Vitamin E may be added for keeping your sugar scrub from becoming rancid
  8. This recipe is for personal home use only
  9. Do not allow water to get into your jar.  This recipe does not have any preservatives.

Almond Oil (Prunus dulcis) - Nourish your scalp and help prevent over drying and dandruff, it actually conditions your hair follicles.  Smooths the cuticle of your hair, which will give it a healthy shine and prevent breaking, frizziness, and flyaways.  Loaded with vitamin E, it’s extremely hydrating, moisturizing, and can be used for nearly any skin type. The only thing you would want to be wary of is using it excessively on your face. Wonderfully soothing for itchy skin, even when caused by skin conditions such as eczema. The oil is extremely soothing and instantly hydrates even the driest skin.

Aloe Vera (Aloe Barbadensis) - A moisturizer, anti-aging cream, second degree burns, sun burn, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties.

Apricot Kernel Oil (Prunus armeniaca) - A light and gently moisturizes to balance skin. The light texture of apricot kernel oil makes it useful in face serums. or mixtures of oils used to moisturize the face. Useful for oily complexions. Apricot Kernel oil is light enough that it does not leave a greasy coat on your skin after use. Though Apricot Kernel oil is most useful for oily complexions, it is gentle enough to use on any skin type. Apricot kernel oil will also help rehydrate dry skin.

Argan Oil (Argania spinosa) - a great product to calm frizzy ends, add moisture to dry hair as well as add a little shine. Apply to your hair while it is still damp for an all over treatment or apply just to your dry ends after your hair is dry. Argan oil absorbs quickly, and does not leave an oily residue leaving a radiant glow to skin.

Avocado Oil (Persea americana) - Moisturize the Skin, Boost Scalp Health and help clear scaly skin, it can also relieve itchy scalp symptoms. Avocado oil is know to stimulate hair growth when regularly applied to the scalp. Increase Collagen Production. When applied, avocado oil increases the production of collagen, which helps keep the skin plump and decreases the effects of aging. Treat Skin Conditions. Avocado oil is useful in the treatment of a variety of skin conditions, including eczema and psoriasis. Avocado oil facilitates the healing of wounds and burns to the skin. It also helps to relieve and heal diaper rash.

Bentonite Clay - highly absorbent, detoxifier, and pH balance restorer.  Clarifies hair without making it feel dry or stripped of moisture. If you have curly hair that is typically dry, this should be a great pick for making your hair soft and supple. Benonite clay has the ability to attract and bind impurities and dirt.  Moisturizes and conditions.  Nourishes with minerals and vitamins that are good for skin and hair.  Contains mineral elements such as calcium, potassium and sodium.

Bergamot Essential Oil (Citrus bergamia) -  fresh, sweet, citrus scent. It has a long history of use for troubled skin. Stimulates and brightens.

Black Currant Seed Oil - hydrates, calms, balances, regenerates, revitalizes and revives skin. Improving the appearance of skin tone, raising moisture level and giving you remarkably radiant glow to skin .

Castor Oil (Ricinus communis) - penetrates deep into the skin, softens and hydrates it. The oil also helps to promote the production of elastin and collagen, which help to delay the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and give the skin a more youthful appearance.  Treats dandruff and scalp conditions, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties.  Help to clear up dandruff and other scalp conditions when used on  regular routine.

Coconut Oil (Cocos nucifera) - Coconut oil is primarily composed of saturated fats and contains medium-chain fatty acids, which not only help to repair the skin barrier and trap water, thus hydrating the skin, they also reduce inflammation and known to combat free radicals.

Sea Salt - combined of minerals that that helps improve skin hydration and reduce inflammation. Dead Sea salt is considered a detoxifier.

  • Magnesium: Promotes quick healing of skin tissue and provides the skin’s surface with anti-allergic elements. Also essential for cell metabolism.
  • Bromide: Soothes skin, relaxes body muscles, and calms nerves.
  • Iodine: Important for the correct functioning of the thyroid gland and is aids in the body's metabolic exchanges.
  • Sulfur: A natural disinfectant (constituent of certain vitamins). Known as a powerful detoxifying agent, as it works closely with the liver to rid the body of toxins.
  • Potassium: Great for people who suffer from asthma because it improves oxidation of the muscles of the nervous system.
  • Calcium: An essential mineral, known to strengthen bones and teeth. Also strengthens cell membranes and cleanses pores.
  • Sodium: Great for dry skin as it helps to allow moisture to be absorbed more easily
  • Zinc:  Contains anti-oxidant properties which help to reduce the early signs of aging.  It also helps to speed up the healing process.

Eucalyptus Essential Oil (Eucalyptus globulus) - Eucalyptus oil is also popularly used to scent perfumes and cosmetics, and is found in mouthwashes, liniments and ointments, toothpastes, cough drops, and lozenges. It is commonly mixed with other oils to make it more easily absorbed by your skin. Relaxes sore muscles, antiviral,anti-flammatory and antifungal. Eucalyptus oil has many antifungal properties that can help ward off infection, restrain residue build up and clogging of pores on the head. Stimulates hair follicles which are tiny opening from where our hair grows. Eucalyptus oil has many chemicals that promote blood vessel constriction and cleansing. This process in turn promotes follicle stimulation. The stimulation promotes hair development.  Improves shine, and overall health of your hair.

Geranium Essential Oil  (Pelargonium graveolens) - Natural skin cleanser, astrisgent, combats skin aging symptoms, nourishes skin cells.  Benefits hair by regulating sebum secretion.  Perfect for both dry and oily hair. Can balance the oil in our scalp and hair so that each of our hair strands gets vitalized and looks healthy. It works on the sebaceous glands present on our scalp and regulates the secretion of sebum resulting in smooth silky tresses. Geranium can promote our hair growth by nourishing and toning the scalp.

Grape Seed Extract Oil (Vitis vinifera) - Moisturizes and conditions dry hair and skin. Helps  lock in moisture and prevent frizz, split ends, and brittle hair. Great for  deep conditioning.

Grapefruit Essential Oil - Stimulates, brightens. 

Honey Raw - A natural humectant.  Draws moisture from the air into the skin and ensures it is retained it in the layers where it is needed most for penetrating and long lasting hydration. Enzymes in raw honey clarifies the skin and keep pores clear and clean. Plus, the antibacterial properties of honey can prevent bacterial buildup that can lead to skin imbalances and breakouts.  Lots of nutrients and a gentle exfoliator.

Jojoba Oil (Simmondsia chinensis) - Oil is known as the oil (wax) that mostly closely resembles human sebum, so the uses and benefits to skin and hair are high.   Can assist in regulating the amount of sebum that your skin makes. Great scalp cleanser and work greate as a moisturizer on skin and hair.

Lavender Essential Oil (lavandula angustifolia) - Relaxing and calming. Heals burns and wounds, restores skin complexion and reduces acne. May be beneficial in helping improve eczema and psoriasis. A powerful antioxidant.
